They have landed on a planet that is inflicted with disease. It is a planet Earth
tried to colonize, but everyone here has been sick since birth.
Jura and Hibiki are in their merged ship keeping a shield over the planet. Since
they are alone Jura is trying to put the moves on Hibiki telling him that she is
interested in men now.
While on the planet Bart meets a little girl that has been in an isolation ward since
birth and boasts about stories in space. But the little girl loves the stories and her
and Bart become good friends.
Everyone is troubled because they don't know how to help the people. There aren't enough
medical supplies and they can't take them with them due to lack of supplies and the exhaustion
from the journey
would kill them.
Bart goes back to visit Shirley (the little girl). Shirley has started to consider Bart a big
brother and makes him a doll of himself. Its not yet finished, its missing his hair and hat.
In return for the doll Bart promises to give her any wish. Shirley wants to climb the roof
of the dome outside. She wanted to go outside a least once. Bart justs makes Shirley promise
to go thru with her treatment, but Shirley starts getting sick and he calls Duero. Duero helps
her but tells Bart she can never be cured. Bart wants to use his own body to help her, but
that still won't help. Bart is very troubled because Shirley listened to all his stories and
truely enjoyed them.
Meanwhile, they find a woman about to give birth. The people on the planet get sick because
they are exposed to the pollution at birth. Parfet is trying to terraform a least a section of
the planet so the woman can give birth in a non-polluted environment so the baby will not get
the illness.
Now the enemy attacks to planet and everyone has to return to the Nirvana to fight, which includes
Bart. He has been by Shirley's side ever since her illness worsened. Because he's the only navigator
he regretfully has to leave her, but he promises to protect Shirley.
Up in space, they are having trouble with the enemy and Bart gets serious. He is determined to protect
Shirley and activates the Nirvana weapons systems and kicks the enemies ass single-handed.
Back on the planet, Parfet manages to make a small area clean from the pollution and the women gives
birth to healthy baby. Unfortunalty during the battle Shirley has passed away. Bart takes his unfinished doll,
and is sitting alone on a hill. The boss comes over to talk to him and tells him that now his can live
for Shirley, that it is okay to cry, and consoles him.
Back on the Nirvana, Bart comes onto the bridge with his new look. To reflect Shirley's doll, Bart
has shaved his head, quits wearing his hat, and wears Shirley's doll around his neck.
(This is the best episode, and a real tear jerker. I just loved it.)
